A good friend of mine from college recently got married in Orlando and I was lucky enough to have been able to go. At the rehersal dinner, the maid of honor and brides maids all got beautiful jewelery from Swarovski - Wow! They were so exquisitely beautiful and sparkly. When I got back home I went on to Swarovski's website to see what else they had besides jewelery and accessories and was pleasantly surprised to find that they make watches, handbags as well as an assortment of home accessories. Who knew!?
Did you know that Swarovski also makes light fixtures? On Apartment Therapy today, there was a post spotlighting a brand new lifestyle website, Goop, created by actress Gwyneth Paltrow. In the article, Apartment Therapy has a beautiful picture of a Swarovski chandelier that Paltrow has hanging over her dining room table in her Hamptons home, profiled in one of the last issues of now defunct House & Garden magazine. Of course, this prompted me to do a little digging into where this particular chandelier comes from.
Made from genuine Swarovski crystals and a metal framework, Tord Boontje designed this piece in 2002/2003 for Swarovski Crystal Palace. The Blossom Chandelier is available in several colors and comes in both a large and a small size. It features twinkling triple 0.1 watt white LEDs. Absolutely stunning! According to the designer, "I like crystal when it is used densely with an internal light, because it becomes very magical, like the ice palace of the fairy queen...this is a place where crystal belongs."
Ranging in price from $22,500.00 all the way up to $43,000.00 (Gwyneth has the Blossom Chandelier in Pink, starting at $37,500.00). While there certainly are more affordable options out there when it comes to stylish chandeliers, this one by Swarovski is at least worth drooling over. Lights out until next time!
